Venison Mushroom Pappardelle is a mouthwatering dish that combines tender venison, earthy mushrooms, and wide, ribbon-like pappardelle noodles. In this blog post, we will walk you through the process of cooking Venison Mushroom Pappardelle and discuss the health advantages of this tasty dish.
Ingredients:
1 lb venison, ground or finely chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
1 carrot, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/2 cup red wine
Salt and pepper, to taste
12 oz pappardelle pasta
Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and carrot, and sauté until they are tender [4].
Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 to 2 minutes [4].
Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook until they are browned [4].
Add the ground venison to the skillet, breaking it into small crumbles with a wooden spatula. Cook until the venison is no longer pink, about 8 minutes [4].
Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 to 2 minutes [1].
Pour in the red wine and let it reduce by half [1].
While the sauce is cooking, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pappardelle pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.
Once the sauce has thickened, taste it and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
Combine the cooked pasta with the venison mushroom sauce, tossing gently to evenly coat the noodles.
Serve the Venison Mushroom Pappardelle hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Health Benefits:
Venison is a lean, high-quality protein source that is low in fat and cholesterol, making it a healthier alternative to beef. It is also rich in iron, zinc, and B vitamins, which are essential for maintaining energy levels and a strong immune system. The mushrooms in this dish provide valuable nutrients, such as vitamin D, selenium, and potassium, as well as antioxidants that can help protect against chronic diseases. Pappardelle pasta, made from whole wheat, offers additional fiber and nutrients, while the red wine and tomato paste provide antioxidants and heart-healthy benefits. Overall, Venison Mushroom Pappardelle is a delicious, satisfying, and nutritious meal that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
